You have to go to a stock team battle.  
Then use up all your lives.  

The second after the voice says \"player defeated\", 
pause the game.  Then un-pause it, and your player 
will return with one life.

For Smash brothers their are any more cheats.
1. If you are playing on team mode and your partner has 
more then one life you can press A+B+strat to still one 
life from your partner and you will come into play.
